Dr. Ben Rosenberg began his orthopaedic surgery practice in Middlebury in 1993, after completing a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. He is a co-founder of Champlain Valley Orthopedics in 2002 with Dr. Benz. His practice interests include sports-related injuries of the knee and shoulder, arthroscopy and open treatment of knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle injuries, joint replacement of the knee, hip and shoulder, and surgery of the hand.
Dr. Rosenberg graduated from Harvard College and received his M. D. degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. Dr. Rosenberg has served as team orthopedic consultant for Middlebury College athletic teams and is the orthopedic advisor to the Middlebury College Snow Bowl and Mad River Glen ski patrols. He is the immediate past-president of the Vermont Orthopaedic Society, and is currently the president of the Porter Hospital Medical Staff. Dr. Rosenberg is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Rosenberg lives with his wife and three children in Cornwall.
Dr. Eric Benz joined Dr. Rosenberg in founding Champlain Valley Orthopedics in 2002. A 1988 summa cum laude graduate of Middlebury College, Dr. Benz was drawn back to the area for its biking, skiing, hiking and way of life. He graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1994 and received his training in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center from 1995-1999. His practice includes evaluation and treatment of problems of the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, hand, wrist, foot, ankle and spine. He has a special interest in joint replacement surgery, including muscle sparing approaches to hip and knee replacement, fracture treatment, arthroscopic surgery, and hand surgery. Dr. Benz is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Benz moved to Middlebury with his wife and 4 children after serving as an officer in the United States Air Force Medical Corps from 1999-2002.
George Connelly, PA-C joined Champlain Valley Orthopedics in 2002 with ten years of experience in the non-surgical management of orthopedic conditions and occupational medicine. He is also a member of the total joint replacement team and performs pre-operative visits, assists in surgery, and in post-operative patient care.
Mr. Connelly graduated from Northeastern University's Physician Assistant Program in Boston with a Master of Health Professions in 1992. He worked in the Orthopedic Department at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care through 1996. Upon relocating to Vermont he worked at Occupational Health and Rehabilitation, focusing on work related injuries, including onsite at Ben and Jerry's manufacturing plant in Waterbury. Mr. Connelly previously graduated from Hobart and William Smith College and worked for four years in molecular genetics research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He currently resides in Charlotte with his wife and son.
Trina L . Wilson PA-C joined Champlain Valley Orthopedics in November 2009. Ms. Wilson assists in surgery and performs pre and post-operative patient care. Prior to joining CVO, Ms. Wilson worked for five years at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts in General Surgery. While at the Brigham, Ms. Wilson's primary duties were assisting in the operating room and managing in-patient care. Ms. Wilson also served as a preceptor for Harvard Medical School, teaching clinical skills to Boston area medical and physician assistant students.
Ms. Wilson graduated from Yale University's Physician Associate Program in 2003. Prior to her graduate studies, Ms. Wilson worked as a Registered Dietitian at Massachusetts General Hospital and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, with a specialty in critically ill patients. Ms. Wilson is a graduate of the University of Vermont and received her bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics cum laude.
